Barclays Premier League review 2010-11

Well what a season we had.Who would have thought that Manchester United would be winning the title at the end of the season considering the start that Chelsea had,and Arsenal who until February were in the supposed "Two horse Race" for the title and somehow found a way to self destruct themselves again and finish 4th behind the money spinners Manchester City.So many heroes crept up from nowhere,so many new talents emerged, and so many profile players had a disappointing season.Teams like Blackpool brought a breath of fresh air within the league, even though they were relegated, but the likes of Charlie Adam and co took the plaudits for their style of play and credit must go to Ian Holloway for what he brought out from his team.
Manchester United won the league with just 80 points, yes there was real competition this time around and stiff opposition was provided by the teams in the bottom half of the table, and the league which was a Big two before 10 years and then turned into big 4 can now boast of a big 6.I wouldn't be surprised if we have more teams competing for top honors after some years.Chelsea started in blistering fashion but just before Christmas their form dipped and they were struggling for even the top 4 places, but they regained their form in February and leapfrogged Arsenal and Man City to finish the season in 2nd position with 71 points.Man City had a good season, they won the F.A.cup and qualified for the champions league and in the end finished above Arsenal and equal on points with Chelsea on 71(losing out on the 2nd place due to an inferior Goal Difference).Arsenal started well and till February were on course for the quadruple, but somehow Arsenal's self destructive qualities came to the fore again and Arsenal, who were gunning for the league title and were supposedly in a two horse race for the title with Man Utd,finished the season in a disappointing 4th place, and a 6th year without a trophy.Tottenham Hotspur were on course for the final champions league spot, but like their North London rivals and neighbors Arsenal, had a disappointing end to the season and finished with a Europa league spot in 5th place.Liverpool had a horrible start to the season,Hodgson was sacked and King Kenny was brought back, and he turned Liverpool's fortunes upside down and finished in 6th place which was looking really unlikely under Roy Hodgson, and i am sure liverpool will give a strong fight next season for the Champions league places.Below Liverpool were Everton,Fulham,Aston Villa,Sunderland,West Brom,Newcastle,Stoke,Bolton,Blackburn,Wigan and Wolves with Birmingham,Blackpool and West Ham having to undergo the agony of relegation, though Birmingham will be playing in the europa league next season along with Stoke,Spurs and the highest placed team in the Fair Play table which looks likely to be Fulham.
There were some really good performances this season,Vidic was a rock a the heart of the Defence for Man Utd,Nasri in the first Half and Van Persie since his return has been breathtaking,Scott Parker and Charlie Adam were awesome though they could not save their teams from relegatioin,Rafael Van der Vaart,Gareth Bale,Nani,Chicarito,Wilshere,Tevez,Peter Odemwingie the list goes and on.So this is my team of the year.

Goal Keeper-Joe hart(Man City),closely followed by Ben Foster(Birmingham) and Edwin Van der Saar(Man Utd).....Some others who had a good season were Petr Cech(Chelsea),Ali Al Habsi(Wigan)

Left Back-Leighton Baines(Everton),closely followed by Ashley Cole(Chelsea)

Right Back-Bacary Sagna(Arsenal),honourable mention to Micah Richards(Man City) and Branislav Ivanovic(Chelsea)

Centre Back-Nemanja Vidic(Man Utd),Vincent Kompany(Man City).....others who had a good season were John Terry(Chelsea),Gary Cahill(Bolton) and Brede Hangeland(Fulham)

Right and Left Midfielder/Winger-really tough but i'd go with Nani(Man Utd)and Nasri(Arsenal),others who had a great season were Gareth Bale(Spurs),Ashley Young(Villa),Clint Dempsey(Fulham),Dirk Kuyt(Liverpool) and Florent Malouda(Chelsea)

Central Midfielders-now this was tough but i'd shortlist it to Scott Parker(West Ham) and Charlie Adam(Blackpool),though i really wanted to include Rafael Van der vaart(Spurs),Luca Modric(Spurs) and Jack Wilshere(Arsenal)

Forwards-Again a tough one but i'd go with Carlos Tevez(Man City) and Robin Van persie(Arsenal)....and giving them competition were Berbatov(Man Utd),Peter Odemwingie(West Brom),Didier Drogba(Chelsea) and Darren Bent(Villa).Yes people might argue Van Persie didnt play for half of the season but the fact that he scored 18 goals in the other half, averaging a goal a game makes him arguably the most lethal striker this season in the league.

This season many players emerged and took the premier league by storm.Few people would have known about them but their performances have earned they applauds all round. These players exceeded all expectations. Some of them were Peter Odemwingie,Jack Wilshere,Charlie Adam,Javier Chicarito Hernandez(Man Utd),Daniel Sturridge(On loan from Chelsea to Bolton),Matt Jarvis(Wolves),Jose Enrique(Newcastle),Andy Carroll(Newcastle and liverpool),Kevin Nolan(Newcastle),Martin Kelly(Liverpool),Phil Jones(Blackburn),DJ Campbell(Blackpool)......
So can't wait for the start of next season.I think Liverpool will come back stronger and will want to get their champions league spot back. Its gonna be a great 2011-12 season and let's see which new faces arrive to the greatest league on the planet and how many of them can make an impact....Hope u football fans enjoyed the season.Till next time see u all Cyonara

Journey from Guwahati to Silchar or vice-versa-which is the best option????

Well u have to go through this and only then will u be able to actually differentiate between travelling on a normal route and in silchar-guwahati route....for those who spend 4000 rs or so on flights will not understand how it feels to go through this hell.....
first i will tell u about the bus route...at first the road..well it starts normally from guwahati(if u r starting your journey from guwahati)....then u get some potholes on the road which are bearable....after that the potholes suddenly become bigger as if some dinosaur stamped on the road and when u come nearer to assam(wen u r nearing the end of meghalaya),i bet u won't be able to find a single second without jumping in the air bcoz the road is by far the worst in the world i guess....actually after coming here i have come to know that road can be made of only two things....sand and stones...just put the sand and throw stones over it and your road is made....after u reached silchar u will surely find one of ur bones having a crack(if u r lacking in calcium)...add to that the buses....if u lucky to have a good bus of capital or network, its ok.....but somehow if u land in royals or jagannath,u r in for a hell of a ride....the buses leak so much that if u r not carrying an umbrella or wearing a raincoat,u might suffer from pneumonia after a few days....and if ur bus is old, ahahahahaha, you r gone baby....add to that the time factor....u r not sure when u would reach,it may take anything ranging from 14 to 40 hours..plus the fact that most buses damage on the route itself and even run out of fuel make it worse..for those of who have a connecting train or something, plzzzz have at least 50 hours of gap between the two journeys....
Now to the train journey and by far my most favourite journey....This is one journey which could have been completed in 8 hrs if our Netas and Babus were not so efficient in their work(or should i say the lack of it).....but bcoz of their efficiency we still now don't have a direct route from silchar to guwahati....it is much more comfortable even though we have to board a connecting train but the problem is that you are never sure whether the train would run at all.....and this is because of landslide, dacoits but most importantly, some mad people living in the hills who have no other work other than torturing the workers who make the railway tracks and also pelt stones at the trains and thus to disrupt the country's development.....the reality that many people don't know is that the bus networks, mainly the private companies like capital, network pay these people so that they don't allow the workers to build the broad gauge track, because then their company would be shut down....after all who would want a treacherous, time consuming, bone breaking, expensive journey when you have a cheaper, comfortable option.....

Have the young Gunners matured enough and can we win the premier league this season?????

So the season started with gloom surrounding the defence, the fabregas saga and of course our goalkeeper.....well Arsene signed two centre backs ,the unknown Laurent Koscielny and Sebastian Squillaci from sevilla who was a ligue 1 winner with lyon....i personally had doubts over both of them and both of them haven't convinced me till now but Kos seems to be a guy who will be a good centre back with experience, remember he has played at top flight only for a year....he was plying his trade at ligue 2 two seasons ago so he has taken rapid strides within a short time.....with the fabregas saga over and now we know he has commited himself to the club,we were still in search of a goalie....but with no deal done it was time for almunia or fabianski to prove that they are good enough....after a few decent performances almunia was back to his best against west brom, spoiling the game for us....since then he has got injured and fabianski has done well after that and i wonder, though too early to assume,is he going to be our saviour?????Samir Nasri has taken rapid strides this season and i can only assume that he will get better as well as Jack Wilshere who has been a revelation and we can assume that fabregas will be partnered with wilshere and song for the majority of the season in the midfield instead of the error-prone mis-passer Abou Daiby....with things looking good after finally defeating a "Big Team" i.e. Man City at eastlands,i can say that the confidence is building and the premier league is not out of reach this season....and i am sure Wenger will take the Carling Cup more seriously this season.....till then from me Navoday "sayonara" to all and wait for my next post

Some unfancied players who might shine in WC 10

Well now i am gonna write about some of the unfancied players who might shine at the world cup.
Steven pienaar-The South African winger who plays for everton will be keen to prove himself on the world stage. He had a good season in the premier league and he could be a surprise star in the world cup.
Nikolai Zigic-The serbian might just prove to be one of the unfancied superstars of this world cup.Serbia's hopes rely heavily on Zigic. He had a fantastic season on loan at Racing Santander where he scored 13 goals in 19 appearances. He has signed for birmingham city this season and the ex valencia striker will want to shut all of his critics in the spanish media by doing well at the world cup.
Solomion Kalou-The chelsea star had a good end to the season for chelsea and winning the premier league will surely have boosted Kalou's confidence.Ivory Coast do look a dangerous team and if Kalou does well along with the mercurial Drogba,Ivory coast might go a long way in this World cup.

World Cup 2010-England

England, world cup 1966 winners, and i dn't see them repeating that feat again.I personally think that england as a team is overrated. No their is no lack of potential,bt i can't see them playing as a unit which is required to win the world cup. They have stars on and off(John Terry,Ashley Cole to be specific) the pitch.
Rooney will spearhead England's attack and if he continues the form he showed this season, then England certainly have the ability to go all the way.
Stars to watch out for-Wayne Rooney,Frank Lampard,Steven Gerrard,Rio Ferdinad,John Terry.
My prediction-Semi Final

World Cup 2010-Argentina

Argentina, the country whom Diego Maradona led to world cup Glory as a player. Now can he do it as a coach?????Well its looks very difficult coz Maradona has been in a fix when it comes to team management. This can be ascertained from the fact that he used around 100 players for their shaky,topsy-turby world cup campaign.Argentina have arguably the best footballer in the world,Lionel Messi in their ranks. But Messi has never been able to do for his country wat he has been doing for his club, that is play sensational football. They certainly have a very good squad and are certainly capable of winning the ultimate prize. But the main thing is can they do it with Diego Maradona???
Stars to watch out for-Lionel Messi,Carlos Tevez,Diego Milito,Walter Samuel,Javier Mascherano,Maxi Rodriguez.
My Prediction-Semi Final

World Cup 2010-Spain

The Euro champions 2008 and favourites for the world cup will want to transform their potential into result this time around.Spain boast of world class stars in every department, whether it be their attack, midfield or defence. In Iker Casillas they can boast of having arguably the best goalkeeper in the world.Personally i think they will nullify their tag of being chokers and go all the way.
Stars to watch out for-David Villa,Fernando Torres,Andres Iniesta,Xavi Hernandez,Francesc Fabregas,Carles Puyol,Iker Casillas,Sergio Ramos.
My Prediction-Champions
